Friends List doesn’t update after loading it the first time.

An explanation to why the friends list doesn’t appear to update after the first time you’ve loaded it.
Skip to bottom for the short answer if you’re not really interested in the “why” and just want to know how to resolve this.
The long answer:
In the new iPhone OS (iOS4) Apple introduced multitasking for the 3GS and the iPhone4. This issue does not affect iPhone 3G or iPod Touch 1st gen users since their is no multitasking on those devices.
PS3 iTrophies has not been fully updated to support the multitasking features of iOS4. If you launch iTrophies, and you log in and the friends list loads then you press the Home button to quit iTrophies you’re not actually exiting the app. You are putting the app in the multitasking suspend mode. If you launch iTrophies again you’ll notice that you didn’t have to sign in again, that’s because iTrophies has woken from the suspended state. The authenticated session may have expired by the time you relaunch iTrophies so you need to quit the app properly and sign in again, this is the way iTrophies worked before the iOS4 update from Apple.
The short answer:
You need to quit the iTrophies correctly so that the friends list loads correctly the next time you launch iTrophies.
Quitting the App Correctly:
To do this follow these instructions:
Press the Home button twice.
You should see a taskbar appear at the bottom of your screen.
Find the iTrophies icon. Press and hold it.
A red circle should appear. Press the red circle.
iTrophies has not exited correctly.
The next time you launch iTrophies the friends list will load correctly.
Future:
I will update for proper multi-task support and retina display in the coming week or so.

Hi, I wish Apple would introduce a feature that a short hold of the home button will quit the app completely. I hate going to the multitasking menu on my 3g to quit the apps all the time >:(.
Good app btw

Multitasking or not, I’m always having issues with iTrophies recently.. Takes a long time to get pass the “authenticating user” screen and sometimes, it just crashes or I get an empty home screen, with no info at all..
Pretty disapointed by the latest version unfortunately…

Sorry you’re having issues, I’m trying to work out the crashing issues – they’re linked to timeouts with the Sony servers. Since I don’t involve any other servers (like one of the other PSN apps) and therefore don’t control them it’s hard to make the app robust against server side changes.

What do you mean by the fact that you don’t involve any other servers? Aren’t the PSN servers the only ones concerned?
Happy to see you’re not taking this the wrong way about my critism! If you need any help with the testing, feel free to let me know… I’ll be more than happy to help you out!

There’s another PSN app that sends users credentials to a non-Sony server, that’s why it appears to work faster. My app only deals with Sony servers, which is why at times the app has broken if the website has changed or some other change has been made to the Sony server. You may also notice the login is faster during off-peak times compared to on-peak gaming hours, again that’s because Sonys servers are under increased load and so responses take a little longer.
